Why the Sudden Rise In Autoimmune Disease?

“Unfortunately, the treatments of autoimmune diseases like Hashimoto are not working properly.”

An autoimmune disease is a condition where the body’s immune system attacks its own healthy tissues and organs. These conditions are on the rise and some declare that they have reached epidemic proportions, citing environmental and lifestyle changes as a primary cause.[1] Others claim COVID has contributed to the increase: “In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, new studies indicate that SARS-CoV-2 infections might be linked to a substantially increased risk of developing a range of autoimmune diseases, including rheumatoid arthritis, vasculitis and inflammatory bowel disease.”[2]

Symptoms of an autoimmune disorder or disease can include fatigue, swollen glands, skin condition issues, joint pain, recurring fevers and even abdominal pain or digestion problems. Both Hashimoto’s disease and Graves’ disease are autoimmune disorders that affect the thyroid, albeit in opposite ways.

Hashimoto’s disease is the most common cause of hypothyroidism in the United States. It affects about 1 out of 20 people and at least 8 times more common in women than men. It can occur in teens or young women, though it is most common with women between ages 40 and 60. Hashimoto’s disease is hereditary and your chances of developing it may increase if other family members have the disease. In this case all family members should be checked proactively if they have any autoimmune deficiencies.

Unfortunately, the treatments of autoimmune diseases like Hashimoto are not working properly. There was a case study of a 30-year-old Austrian female patient with unusually rapid conversion from overt hyperthyroidism to overt hypothyroidism and vice versa within only a few weeks which was treated with levothyroxine. The conclusion of the study suggested “educating patients and physicians to recognize changes in thyroid function and close monitoring of unclear cases of overt hyperthyroidism.”[3]

As you may have discovered, medical doctors are not treating this disease correctly. In laymen’s terms autoimmune disorders are like dementia or advanced forgetfulness and they occur when the body’s immune system attacks healthy cells and tissues in the brain or spinal cord, which results in inflammation. This inflammation may then cause impaired functioning, resulting in neurological or psychiatric symptoms. It is a breakdown due to diet, stress and environmental toxins leading to hormone deficiencies. Under normal conditions your T-cells (T-lymphocytes) produced by the thymus gland protect your body from invading cells.

With Hashimoto’s disease (chronic lymphocytic thyroiditis) your own immune system continues to attack itself to the point when damaged immune cells invade and destroy your entire thyroid gland if left untreated.  Autoimmune disorders such as Hashimoto’s thyroiditis may go undetected for several years without any noticeable symptoms until they reach a tipping point from which they can emerge quickly and end up devastating to your health.

The case study mentioned above, under normal circumstances would appear to be a rare occurrence going from a low functioning hypothyroidism to a high functioning hyperthyroidism. This may become more common as society’s immunity continues to become weaker due to the added government interventions such as social isolation and the wearing of masks by healthy people especially during the summer months when our natural immunity is being built by congregating and social interaction and being outdoors absorbing natural vitamin D from the sun and eating locally produced foods that are rich in vitamins and minerals. Because societies have circumvented natural development for herd immunity the cold and flu seasons are becoming more severe than normal, we are lacking the necessary antibodies to face winter or any other viral infections to follow. The media will attribute the harsh and higher infection rate as a result of the novel corona virus or death from unknown origins, and that is not be the case. With the experimental mRNA injections created for Covid and now for other disease conditions the global health authorities will be offering immunity produced in a lab rather than from our innate or adaptive immunity. When you circumvent what nature has provided and proven to be effective if not altered or changed as a society, we will be dependent on a replica produced in a lab to replace what nature has always provided. I don’t know about you but I trust our natural design far more than I do pharma.

Hashimoto’s thyroiditis

Permanent hypothyroidism can be successfully treated, though not cured. Hashimoto’s thyroiditis is one of the main causes. In this case the immune system makes antibodies that attack the thyroid gland, which may enlarge or shrink, and lose its ability to produce adequate thyroid hormone. Hashimoto’s is associated with other autoimmune diseases, including type 1 diabetes, Addison’s disease, rheumatoid arthritis, pernicious anemia, and even prematurely gray hair. In people with a genetic susceptibility, the onset of Hashimoto’s thyroiditis can be triggered by factors such as high iodine intake, pregnancy, or cigarette smoking.[4]

Graves’ Disease

While Graves’ disease is also an autoimmune disorder that affects the thyroid, instead of creating a hypothyroid state like Hashimoto’s, Graves’ disease creates a hyperthyroid state where the thyroid produces too much hormone. The symptoms of hyperthyroidism can include unexplained weight loss, fatigue, trouble sleeping, increase of appetite, an increase in heart rate or irregular heart beat, goiter, moodiness, nervousness or irritability, and muscle weakness.

The risk of developing Graves’ disease can also be related to genetics. Having a family history in which relatives have had Graves’ can increase a person’s chances of getting the disease. It is also more prevalent among women. Complications from Graves’ disease nearly always results from too much thyroid hormone in the body.

One of the most common issues that arise in roughly 25% of diagnosed patients is called Graves’ orbitopathy. This occurs when antibodies attack the eyes, resulting in bulging eyes, redness and swelling. A less common, but life threating issue that can occur due to Graves’ disease is called a thyroid storm. This happens when there is a sudden increase of thyroid hormone in the body. Symptoms of a thyroid storm are fever, tremors, vomiting and nausea, diarrhea and delirium. Thyroid storms are very dangerous and as such require immediate medical attention. While thought to be incurable and chronic, new evidence points to lifestyle changes as a viable treatment and even cure for Graves’ disease.[5]

For the restoration of health there is nature’s way: treatment must be thorough and holistic, simultaneously targeting the areas of the body being impacted. The human body, complex as it is, has the ability of healing itself when given the opportunity. For this to happen, lifestyle changes are absolutely necessary. Hormone free thyroid gland free of iodine may be helpful when combined with fermented selenium that is yeast free, zinc picolinate and low dose iron. Your thyroid is under attack today from so many sources, and it is too crucial to neglect. In nature all things are developed to be in a state of balance, this includes the balance in your health and reflected in your life.

To help address these conditions, Life Choice has developed a thyroid support product specifically designed for those who require care for their thyroid while suffering with autoimmune disorders: Thyrodine Thyromoto.

Fortified with iron and selenium, Thyrodine Thyromoto has no added iodine, as excess iodine can create issues for those with autoimmune disorders. For those who have been diagnosed with Hashimoto’s disease (or hypothyroidism), Thyromoto should be taken along with Life Choice HGH+ Homeopathic and Adrenal gland. Those who have Graves’ disease (or hyperactive thyroiditis) should consider taking Thyromoto along with Life Choice HGH+ Homeopathic and GABA.
