Life Is 95% Maintenance

“The body can heal itself from almost any stage when given the nutrients needed.”

The older one becomes, the more you begin to realize that they do not make things like they used to; then it dawns on you, ‘even I am breaking down.’ You could say the life is based on maintenance: from your work, to relationships to your body and your home. Pretty well everything you associate with or own begins to break down and needs your time and attention to be maintained. You even see it on your taxes and insurance, depreciation expense, try not to think of that when your birthday rolls around.

I have had multiple conversations with medical doctors who have been taught to believe that the body will break down and begin to stop working no matter what you do, what you eat, drink or take because you have a shelf-life. I am certainly thankful that I went the naturopathic route and I know for certain that when it comes to your health you can avoid so much pain, anxiety, sickness, premature aging and an early death if you practice prevention, knowing that your body and mind need some tender loving care while on your pathway of life.

Due to commercial farming using monoculture farming practices, the single crops lead to a lack of soil diversity and depletion of trace minerals and nutrients, resulting in soil degradation, increased pest and disease susceptibility, and reduced long-term sustainability which requires added pesticides, herbicides and questionable biomass (sewage sludge) fertilizers. The food grown today is lacking the vitamins and trace minerals our bodies require, this translates in most people not receiving adequate nutrients from their food and the need intensifies as they age. As the metabolism slows down, this is when they need optimal nourishment to sustain healthy living. There is conclusive evidence that older adults have less ability to absorb and benefit from the nutrients in their diet and if this does not change, their deficiency creates the body’s breakdown and an increased body mass. This deficiency comes from a lack of maintenance as things begin to spiral out of control: impaired digestion leading to medication and side effects, then the gastrointestinal region and microbiota imbalance, lack of sleep, lack of movement, adrenal fatigue—the outcomes of nutritional deficiencies and hormonal imbalances—, resulting in more drugs and less quality of life. This can still be reversed, the body can heal itself from almost any stage when given the nutrients needed.

For the healing to be able to begin, you need to know that you have a problem needing correction but that is not always the case. If you feel good then you must be good, right? That is what most folks think. But did you know that almost half of hypertension patients do not know they have hypertension? “The World Health Organization estimates that 1.3 billion people globally have hypertension. Alarmingly, 46% of hypertensive individuals are unaware of their condition, whereas only 42% receive a diagnosis and treatment. Even among those treated, only 21% achieved adequate blood pressure control.”[1] And it is not only hypertension. One in four have non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD)—it is estimated that it concerns 80-100 million adults in the U.S. and 8 to 10 million in Canada—and most do not know they have it. Left untreated, liver disease can lead to liver failure and liver cancer.

It is the not knowing of your state of health that is a problem, as our bodies weaken, we just accept how we feel, thinking it is normal. Most folks believe this way, if they do, that is not living at your full potential. The aging process needs our input and participation, you need to practice maintenance for the things in decline.

Effects of multivitamin supplementation

A recent large-scale study, part of the COcoa Supplement and Multivitamin Outcomes Study (COSMOS)[2], investigated the effects of daily multivitamin supplementation on cognitive aging in older adults. Researchers conducted in-person cognitive assessments with 573 participants and performed a meta-analysis involving over 5,000 individuals across three separate cognition studies within COSMOS. The findings revealed that daily multivitamin use led to statistically significant improvements in both memory and global cognition, effectively slowing cognitive aging by approximately two years compared to a placebo. These results suggest that multivitamin supplementation could serve as a safe, accessible, and affordable strategy to help preserve cognitive health in the aging population.[3],[4]

Naturally, not all multivitamins are equal and you need to make sure you are taking one that is really going to be beneficial. Today experts raise doubts about whether the synthetic form of vitamins used in supplements are as effective as their natural analogues. Why? Because synthetic is not bioidentical for cellular absorption; these vitamins first need to be converted once ingested using enzymes which are already in low supply in most individuals. Synthetic vitamins are also poor in the necessary oligo minerals (trace minerals) and must use the body’s own mineral reserves to compensate which may lead to dangerous mineral deficiencies. The worst case is that many vitamin precursors are artificial substances totally non-existent in nature. In some cases taking an artificially isolated molecule (or vitamin) can be ineffective, and even harmful to the body.

Ingredients that actually originate from natural foods (vegetables, germs, herbs, fruits, etc.) are extremely rare. The reason is that both plants from organic farming and their extraction process are relatively complex, and therefore costly. In this case, the extraction of the carrier plants is made with the aid of a biological solution of nutrients from other plants. These ingredients are in the active form. They are bioavailable and do not need metabolic transformations to be used by the body’s cells.

Studies[5] have demonstrated that B Vitamins and nutrients from natural sources are better absorbed when ingested (95%), and have optimum bioavailability (90%) at the cellular level in their active form. Synthetic B vitamins on the other hand are poorly absorbed (30%), and have lower bio-availability (25%) to the cells.

Life Choice® Next Generation Super Multi-Vitamin Complex is vegetarian, non-GMO, organic plant-based vitamin complex derived from spirulina, shiitake mushrooms, acerola berries, palm fruit and legumes, in a base of spinach, ginger, turmeric and blueberries. It is a real organic food supplement; the plant-based vitamins are in their active state for cellular absorption without the necessity of first converting within the body as synthetic B’s require. Next generation Super Multi-Vitamin Complex is your best protection against elevated levels of the amino acid homocysteine—in excess it can increase your risk of mood disorders, poor mental performance, and mental illness such as dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.

The Therapeutic Properties within Our Proprietary Blend:

Spinach: a known anti-inflammatory agent, helps with oxidative stress, benefits cardiovascular health, adds to bone density, identified as having over twelve different flavonoid compounds making it an anti-cancer agent as well.

Ginger: has a long history of use for relieving digestive problems such as nausea, loss of appetite, motion sickness and pain.

Turmeric: anti-inflammatory; helps with flatulence, jaundice, menstrual difficulties, bloody urine, hemorrhage, and toothaches.

Blueberries: high in fiber, supportive of cardiovascular health, lowering cholesterol in the blood and in turn decreasing the risk of heart disease. The nutritional elements of blueberries could help prevent many eye disorders leading to impaired vision or blindness.

Palm fruit Vitamin E: Natural plant-based vitamin E contains eight isoforms, of which four are alpha, beta, gamma and delta-tocotrienols. Tocotrienol derived from palm oil are capable of preventing the metabolic break down of arachidonic acid by inhibiting all the pathways. It has also a separate inhibitory effect on the degeneration of the brain cells. “Several studies have shown that tocotrienols, the less common form of vitamin E (…) reduce cholesterol and triglyceride levels through the modulation of lipogenic genes and improve the antioxidant defense system of the cells.”[6] Vitamin E (mixed tocotrienol) 100 mg daily for 3 months could also decrease the liver stiffness measurement among NAFLD patients.[7]

Vitamin D3 (as Quali®D, from cholecalciferol): Vitamin D can be beneficial in cases of autoimmune disorders, bone disorders, osteoporosis, rheumatoid arthritis, heart diseases and many more.

Acerola berries: is the richest source of 100% natural vitamin C complex containing the whole-plant C complex; bioflavonoids, hesperidin, rutin, anthocyanins complete with all naturally occurring cofactors. Its carotene content is comparable to carrots and it is also high in B-vitamins such as niacin, pantothenic acid, potassium, B1 thiamine and B2 riboflavin.

With the multivitamin a proper mineral delivery you should also be taken to cover your daily needs, Opti-Cal/Mag Complex now that is a true One-A-Day. For bacteria balance and gut health Laktokhan and Full Spectrum Digestive Enzyme— since all disease begins in the gut, these are needed on a daily basis.

When you consider the environmental challenges facing society today, and when acknowledging the lack of nutrients in our food supply and understanding the growing threat of sickness and disease, with the medical solution of prescription drugs intervention is needed to change the outcome.

Maintenance; maintaining good health is like caring for a fine Swiss watch: it involves proactive steps, like regularly changing the batteries – check-ups, when the timing is out slight tweaking of the mechanisms are necessary – healthy habits, and care and prevention, addressing potential issues early enough to prevent problems and to ensure a long healthy life.
